Intrapartum Azithromycin (IP AZM)

Current Research: The Intrapartum Azithromycin (AZ) Implementation Research (IR) study, a companion to the CHIME trial, focuses on the implementation of intrapartum azithromycin (IP AZM). It involves two phases: Phase 1, which focuses on formative research to identify barriers and facilitators to using IP AZM and guides the design of implementation strategies for Phase 2. Phase 2 tests the implementation strategies developed in Phase 1 and evaluates their impact in real-world settings across five Global Network sites: the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Guatemala, Zambia, Bangladesh, and Nagpur, India. The study applies implementation research frameworks and complements the A-PLUS trial to support the use of IP AZM in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
