It may be noted that globally there are 825 WHO Collaborating Centers, of which currently India has 56 active Centers. Among the 56 currently active Indian WHO CCs, ours is one of ONLY seven in the private sector (others being - Dr Mohan's Diabetes Hospital, Chennai; LV Prasad Hospital, Hyderabad; CMC, Vellore; SRM, Chennai; and Arvind Hospital, Madurai). In Karnataka we are the only private sector among FOUR WHO CCs.
Sincere thanks to Dr Prabhakar Kore, Hon’ble Chancellor and Chairman of KLE Society, and the entire KLE Leadership, all our collaborators in India and abroad, funding agencies, my colleagues in the JNMC Research Unit, and above all, the field research staff who have toiled 24x7 for the last 19 years for implementing various research protocols.
Special thanks are due to Ms Mariana Widmer from WHO for guiding us through the designation process.
